New Year's Eve

Making your resolution
Checking it twice
Is 2009 the year that you're going to be naughty or nice?

Montreal Knows Cold

It's cold in Montreal... like 1 degree cold. But we are bundling up, going to drink a scotch and heading outside to see some sights. The style is making me want to move here. Lots of funky individuality mixed with some absolutely beautiful people. I will take pics if I can.

Stay warm and be good tonight!

Out With the Old

After a nice quiet Christmas at my sister's, I am getting ready to go to Montreal tomorrow to celebrate New Year's with friends. It's going to be cooooold there, so I a packing my cozy clothes and will just have to make sure to drink lots of red wine to stay warm.

I don't know if I will be blogging. May leave the computer at home this time.

Only a few days of 2008 left, so we better make them count!

Holiday Time

I'm off to NJ for the holidays to see what santa left me under the tree. Leave a message and I'll be back once I come up for air from the piles of wrapping paper, or all of the Christmas cookies are gone... whichever comes first.

Countdown to Chistmas

My co-worker is stuck on what to get her daughter. My neighbor is stuck on what to get his mom. And one friend hasn't even started shopping yet. Click here for my 2008 gift guide.

Just Wondering

If you could have any article of clothing designed and named after you what would it be?

I Secondi That

In high school vintage meant an old worn in t-shirt from the thrift store.
In college it meant hippie dresses and my dad's black leather bell-bottoms.
In my early twenties it meant old, dusty fur jackets that used to belong to my Nana.
Most recently vintage means better than anything that is made today.

A few weeks ago I rekindled an old love affair... with Secondi on Connecticut Ave. What is not to love about good vintage finds mixed with new items?

We Love Tylenol and Free Cabs

How cool is this? Tylenol and CVS are offering free taxi rides in pink and white British-style cabs as part of a promotion for Tylenol Warming Liquids. This beats the hell out of the smelly, dirty cabs that usually roll around DC.
The best part... the cabs will take you anywhere in the district (up to a $25 fare). The free taxis will be moved to a new CVS location every day this week. Unless you live in Dupont Circle, then double-score... cabs will be available there every day.

Here's the schedule (12pm - 8pm):

Monday through Friday 12/15 - 12/21: Dupont Circle, NW
Monday, December 15: 1199 Vermont Avenue, NW
Tuesday, December 16: 1025 Connecticut Avenue, NW
Wednesday, December 17: 435 8th Street, NW
Thursday, December 18: 400 Massachusetts Avenue, NW
Friday, December 19: 1275 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Saturday, December 20: 4555 Wisconsin Avenue, NW
Sunday, December 21: 3031 14th Street, NW
vroom, vroom!

Manly Boots

Last Thursday night I spent close to 10 minutes talking boots with the bouncer at Marvin. If there is even a drop if moisture from the sky, I immediately use it as an excuse to wear my mukaluks (aka wellies). ( I love them. Maybe a little too much. It can be awkward.) Anyway, he liked my boots, which got us talking about his quest for boots and me telling him about this amazing pair of Timberland knee-high lace-up boots rain boots that I had recently seen. Then there was this whole conversation about where he could go looking for boots. Yeah, this explains why I am single.

Anywayyy.... I was just reading Modern Destiny where he too is obsessed with boots. Then I read Panda Head and from there I clicked over to to check out Chanels latest collection. Which has lots of men in boots. I like the calf high boots on a guy... alot. But can a man pull of knee-high boots with his pants tucked in... you know, outside of an eqestrian show?

Tell you what... you send those two men over my way and I promise to make a decision. Deal?

Hello, Weekend

The weekend is here
Oh what a delight
Except for that list that's keeping you up at night
You have mom and dad and your brother and sis
But surely there must be someone you missed
For you, my dear, a weekend shopping guide
Now come Christmas Day you won't have to hide.

(I'm not normal, I know...)

Meet Billy Reid

Dear Men,
I know I often neglect you when it comes to style. So today I have a special treat. His name is Billy Reid. His designs are impecible, with a "sophisticated Southern nod". And you can get it all on sale.
Now who loves you the most?

Tangy Sweet to the Rescue

For years Claud and I have moaned that there needs to be a solid frozen yogurt spot by our offices. We once spent an entire lunch hour walking around trying to find one. And there may have been an afternoon last summer spent listing off potential places to go get some soft serve.

Then this morning I saw that Tangy Sweet is opening on 7th and E... two blocks from my office.

Best morning ever.

15 Minutes recently interviewed me for their blogger beat. Twas lots of fun, but yikes that pic! (I'm smiling so big there's no room left for my eyes.. .ahhahahaha!)

Going to go bask in my 15 minutes of fame with a trip to my hairdresser. Did someone say blonde...?

Free Shipping Day

With everything but the kitchen sink being discounted, it is more surprising to NOT see a sale then to see things marked down. But here is one more incentive to tempt you into shopping -- Free Shipping Day.

On Thursday, December 18th participating merchants are giving free shipping to online shoppers with guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve. The list includes Apple Store, Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel, Victoria's Secret, Amazon. The entire list can be viewed here.

Hey, it's a lot more exciting than Sweetest Day, or Bosses Day, or Grandparent's Day.

(thanks L for letting me snag the info from you!)

Sale Time

Right now Cusp is having a huge sale. Think 40% off almost everything.
Just thought you'd want to know.
(though right now the sale is the new norm, n'est pas?)

Pictures in the Park

Yesterday I got all dressed up, played makeup with a friend and went to the park where I got my picture taken and froze for fashion. Not the Park Hyatt, not The Park at 14th, not even Park City, Utah. Just the dog park.

Fashion Trivia

Ok, let's pretend for a second that my Target boots aren't horribly back ordered, which explains why they aren't yet on my feet. Instead, they are really:
a. being held hostage by a mailman that holds a grudge
b. resting in Vogue's fashion closet
c. on Miley Cyrus' feet, because she wanted them too (ew!)
d. a figment of my imagination

either way, Target can I please have my boots now?

Dancefloor Diaries

All dancing around at last night's party, there were girls that liked boys and boys that liked girls and maybe some that liked boys and girls. But were there any boys liked by this girl... that remains the question.

When Horoscopes Hit the Nail on the Head

So long as you know what it is you want out of life there is nothing and no one that can stop you from getting it. Once you internalize that fact into your everyday thinking and feeling you will find your dreams coming true at a remarkable rate.

and there you have it.

Urban Pulls Their Support

While wandering aimlessly around the internet I stumbled upon this blog entry about Urban Outfitters pulling 'I Support Same Sex Marriage' tee-shirts. The tees are great and I would wear one, as would probably all of my friends (gay or straight). But why would Urban ask to carry them, then pull them, then lie? As with any story, the truth is always somewhere in the middle. But, still I say to them "Shame on you. Shame, shame on you!"

Quote of the Day

More Adventures In Misspelling

cfab: carolyn?

Shopping, Then Labor

preggersis: What date r u coming for xmas? Come early.
me: 23rd. So tell the baby to come on the 25th
preggersis: So the 24th we are going century 21 shopping
me: exactly sista!

Home, Again

Yet again I find myself on the couch, foot propped, still in my comfy clothes, working from home. Sounds like a dream, no? Unless that is exactly what you did all of last week. Then you are ready to ditch the sweats for a suit, go play in the outside world and actually be in the office with people who aren't on your tv screen.

But let's be honest, there are worse things in life.

Naughty or Nice - Frye's Paige Boot

I am not gonna lie, all day I have been thinking about Frye's Paige buckle boot. They are stuck in my head like a bad Beyonce song. My sweet lil cousin emailed me saying she bought a pair in grey and they are too small on her. Do I want them?

Yes, yes, yes!

But do my feet squeeze into a size 8. And with this recession, do I want to splurge?

Did I mention she got them for a third of the cost?

Le sigh...

Meet Yeasayer

Hahaha, my first band interview. I actually didn't ask the question about their snacks, or who they would eat first, but I think it is hilarious because those are questions I totally would have asked!

Vogue Ditching Anna (maybe)

The internet is alive with rumors that that Carine Roitfeld is going to replace Anna Wintour to run American Vogue. It's no secret that Vogue hasn't been doing too well lately, but can they do better sans Anna and her well-coifed hair? Looks like we may be about to find out.

Monday, December 1, 2008

Late to Cyber Monday

It's Cyber Monday and while everyone else was at work shopping online, I was at home sleeping off a nasty cold. But now I am awake, a little less sneezy and ready to hit the internet for a little online love -- retail style.

And what is on my list? Let's see...
Star Wars legos for my brother
button-down sweaters for work
Aveda shampoo
wet leggings (which I had sworn off, but now sorta want)

baci baci!
