Getting Suited Up

Still having that internal debate on whether to commit to a bikini or keep covered with a one-piece this summer? Refinery 29 has a great feature on their 20 favorite swimsuits. They seem to have mastered the perfect mix of styles for any personality or body. And most of them are really affordable. I swear, they can do no wrong in my eyes.

Here are a few of my favorites...

Style Rookie

This girl is amazing. And only 14. And has a better sense and understanding of style than half the style bloggers out there (including me). Did I mention that she is only 14?

Plus-Sized Model Debate Continues; Garance Chimes In

Now, I love Garance Dore. We are talking serious people crush, can we hang out, go shopping, tell dirty jokes, and be best friends. But what I didn't love was her recent interview in ElleUK where she gave her view on plus-sized models. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but hers came across as a little superficial. Maybe it just got lost in translation...

News Alert

This was my favorite restaurant in Florence (well, one of them). Now it is opening in DC. Who wants some blueberry stead? Wheeeeeeeeee!

Acqua al 2: This Capitol Hill spot could start dishing out Italian fare in sometime in May. 212 Seventh St. SE

Pancake Balls and Bloody Marys

I have one word for you, Domku. Yesterday Cfab and I were on the hunt for a good brunch and she suggested this cute little eatery in Petworth. And today it is love.

According to their website "The eclectic menu of mostly Slavic and Scandinavian fare has brought pierogis, borscht, goulash, Janssen’s Temptation, and pickled herring into the everyday language of DC diners."

But forget that. Just remember one thing... pancake balls. That's all you need to know.

Oh, and they have a mean drink list too. Call me if you go; I will come too!

Lust Worthy

ElleUK asked Garance Dore to illustrate a limited edition cover featuring Demi Moore. It's simple and gorgeous and asking to be hanging on my wall in a frame. Now to just get my hands on one...

Things to Talk About

1. Is unshaven going to become the new brazillian?
2. Can Chuck and Blair make it work? And what is Little J thinking?
3. TOMS. My feet have never been so happy.
4. LCD is back... time to dance.

Who put the "I" in Wimp

I walked into the hair salon planning to get a cut like this:
Instead I walked out with this:
Someone obviously rode the lame train to the salon that day.

Pick of the Day

Gap racerback bra. Usually $20 each or 2 for $15, I went in today and they rang up as only $10 each. Comes in lots of colors, perfect under a tank. Try once and you will be addicted. Trust!

Full Piece, Yes Please

Full piece swimsuits used to be for people that wanted to hide a little something. But now they are for people who have nothing to hide. They're not frumpy or dumpy or shapeless or sexless. No, no, no... I am seeing some that are far more sexy than a bikini could ever be.

So during our fifth hour of shopping, my sister and I walked past the swimsuits in Macy's and just took a peek. Then I forced her to try on this strapless, striped wonder with the ruffles around the booty. It was magic.
(Hers was also in a deep navy blue and reminded me of something from the 50's. This bright blue does not do it justice. Oh, just believe me.)

I Still Love You, I Swear

It's been a mad two weeks and this week is showing no signs of slowing down. After what can only be described as a faboosh four days with my sister, I am back and working on some fun (albeit VERY stressful) projects right now. Hopefully I can share more of that soon. And tell you about our shopping spree on saturday. And show you the amazing 50's throwback bathing suitI got my sister to buy. But for now I work. And work. And work.

In the meantime, let me tell you this. Clinique's High-Lengths mascara is beyond. Just beyond. My search is over. I am in love. I will never part from it.

kisses for today,
me

Wheeeeeeeee!

I have been excited about this for weeks... and now I am even more excited to share! Awhile back I got to experiment with food to see what natural at-home beauty recipes work the best. And today the story is in the WaPo Express. My first one... so much fun... so excited... ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Click here to read Recipe to Refresh. And can we talk about how freaking cool the cover picture is with the chocolate over the face?

And thanks to my friends for letting me paint their hair, faces and feet with some crazy recipes!
