Montreal Knows Cold

It's cold in Montreal... like 1 degree cold. But we are bundling up, going to drink a scotch and heading outside to see some sights. The style is making me want to move here. Lots of funky individuality mixed with some absolutely beautiful people. I will take pics if I can.

Out With the Old

After a nice quiet Christmas at my sister's, I am getting ready to go to Montreal tomorrow to celebrate New Year's with friends. It's going to be cooooold there, so I a packing my cozy clothes and will just have to make sure to drink lots of red wine to stay warm.

I don't know if I will be blogging. May leave the computer at home this time.

Only a few days of 2008 left, so we better make them count!

Just Wondering

I Secondi That

In high school vintage meant an old worn in t-shirt from the thrift store.
In college it meant hippie dresses and my dad's black leather bell-bottoms.
In my early twenties it meant old, dusty fur jackets that used to belong to my Nana.
Most recently vintage means better than anything that is made today.

A few weeks ago I rekindled an old love affair... with Secondi on Connecticut Ave. What is not to love about good vintage finds mixed with new items?

We Love Tylenol and Free Cabs

How cool is this? Tylenol and CVS are offering free taxi rides in pink and white British-style cabs as part of a promotion for Tylenol Warming Liquids. This beats the hell out of the smelly, dirty cabs that usually roll around DC.

The best part... the cabs will take you anywhere in the district (up to a $25 fare). The free taxis will be moved to a new CVS location every day this week. Unless you live in Dupont Circle, then double-score... cabs will be available there every day.

Manly Boots

Last Thursday night I spent close to 10 minutes talking boots with the bouncer at Marvin. If there is even a drop if moisture from the sky, I immediately use it as an excuse to wear my mukaluks (aka wellies). ( I love them. Maybe a little too much. It can be awkward.) Anyway, he liked my boots, which got us talking about his quest for boots and me telling him about this amazing pair of Timberland knee-high lace-up boots rain boots that I had recently seen. Then there was this whole conversation about where he could go looking for boots. Yeah, this explains why I am single.

Anywayyy.... I was just reading Modern Destiny where he too is obsessed with boots. Then I read Panda Head and from there I clicked over to Style.com to check out Chanels latest collection. Which has lots of men in boots. I like the calf high boots on a guy... alot. But can a man pull of knee-high boots with his pants tucked in... you know, outside of an eqestrian show?


Tell you what... you send those two men over my way and I promise to make a decision. Deal?

Tangy Sweet to the Rescue

For years Claud and I have moaned that there needs to be a solid frozen yogurt spot by our offices. We once spent an entire lunch hour walking around trying to find one. And there may have been an afternoon last summer spent listing off potential places to go get some soft serve.

Then this morning I saw that Tangy Sweet is opening on 7th and E... two blocks from my office.

Urban Pulls Their Support

While wandering aimlessly around the internet I stumbled upon this blog entry about Urban Outfitters pulling 'I Support Same Sex Marriage' tee-shirts. The tees are great and I would wear one, as would probably all of my friends (gay or straight). But why would Urban ask to carry them, then pull them, then lie? As with any story, the truth is always somewhere in the middle. But, still I say to them "Shame on you. Shame, shame on you!"

Yet again I find myself on the couch, foot propped, still in my comfy clothes, working from home. Sounds like a dream, no? Unless that is exactly what you did all of last week. I am not gonna lie, all day I have been thinking about Frye's Paige buckle boot. They are stuck in my head like a bad Beyonce song. My sweet lil cousin emailed me saying she bought a pair in grey and they are too small on her. Do I want them?
