It's been a pisser of a week. (Yes, I just said pisser.) Work's madness, my personal life is bumming me out, my new fish only lasted 48 hours before he died, and a co-worker asked me if I was pregnant (umm, far from it and who asks that anyway?!)
But just when I am about ready to give in and crawl under the covers until 2009, I get a solid piece of advice... "look at the future as a bright light and not a dark cave."
Best friends are kind of like ice cream; they just sort of have a way of making it all better.

Another New Cut
No matter how short my hair, he always finds more to cut off. No matter how blonde, there is always another shade lighter. No matter how dark, we find a new deeper brown.
And everytime I leave slightly shocked, totally stoked and already planning my next new look.
Some people have hobbies, I have a hairdresser.

Fall Into You
Wedding Wedding Wedding
Last I night I went with a friend to help her pick out shoes to go with her wedding dress. Which got me thinking of my wedding dress. And the shoes. And the veil. And the fact that my dress will be short, my veil will be long (think 8 feet long) and my shoes will be very high.
Oh wait, I am not engaged. Maybe I should just think about all that laundry that is piling up on my bedroom floor instead.

Real or Fake-Out?
This morning while I was waiting in Starbucks for my much needed coffee, I found myself noticing a fabulous thick black leather bag on one of the other customers. After spending a few seconds trying to figure out if it was real or fake, I got the urge to smell it. (which I didn't!)
Why?
Because I wanted to know if it smelled like yummy real leather or gross fake pleather. Then I would know if it was real or fake.

Logan = Tom = Tee
Mystery solved! The mastermind behind the 'Tom For for Prez' tee is named Logan Neitzel and he lives out in Seattle. Google him and I guarantee you will be people crushing in about 5 seconds. I am going to interview Logan for brightest young things later this week... so stay tuned.
In the meantime, you can go here to get your pretty little hands on a shirt of your own.

Drew + Eve = Saline
This little piece of gossip just landed in my inbox from my sister:
"New flash. Drew Barrymore has been living in Saline the past few weeks. She is here filming a movie with the actrees/singer Eve. I hope I see her. She bought a house down the street on Michigan Ave. I am getting a pedicure at my local spot and they said Eve has come in twice to get her nails done. I guess Saline isn't totally off the map!"

New Designer Alert
I love supporting new, young designers... especially when they are right here in D.C. Which is why I am super excited about Rochelle Behren's sample sale on July 30th. Go check it out and show the budding designer some love.
Plus, there will be cocktails!

Tom Ford for Prez
I love Tom Ford. And I love a good t-shirt.
Which I why I am press-diddely-essed to get my hands on the "Tom Ford for Prez" shirt that one of the contestants wore on Project Runway the other night.
So far, the mysterious tee can't be found anywhere... but I am not done looking.
It will be mine, oh yes, it will!

Texting in the Morning
me: just saw a mom drop her kid with green hair off for school. That's gonna be your little girl. Awesome! (though I hope it's with pink hair instead)
sis: how about brown hair with pigtails!
me: I didn't know prep school chic was making a comeback.
sis: pigtails always look good on little girls, especially with colorful tights and rainboots
me: can they be dyed pink at the ends?
sis: of course, if that's what she wants. Her mom is a hairdresser!

Ready, Set, Sleep
Things get real deep today, as I explore how to cure the total inability to sleep on Sunday nights.
Check it out here.

The City Has Gone Mad
Even though I know DC is full of crime, I never feel unsafe... mostly because I am so removed from most of the things that happen. Until this morning when I went to get some coffee from Tryst and ended up running down 18th street and into a stranger's car after gun got shot about 20 feet from me. A group of men were fighting and running down the street, when one of them decided to start shooting. A guy in a car yelled for me to get in, along with 2 other strangers, as the brawling men came running down the street toward us. The driver called the police and we watched as they came and took some of the men down.
Then it was over, I got out and continued on my way.
Like a said, nice little Sunday morning in DC. Thank g-d no one was hurt!

Fall on Me
Since it is hot and humid outside, I decided to cool myself down by looking at some of the big trends for fall. Think sexy and classy, with a touch of the masculine. Lots of fitted vests, big, fat plaid prints, sequins, and for some reason bow blouses. What is a bow blouse? Why, it is a blouse with a huge bow at the collar... obvi.
Either way, I like what I am seeing. But for now I am happy to slip into a little dress, some flip flops and call it a day.

Shopper's Delight
I love to buy stuff. I am not just talking about shoes or clothes. Put me in a Rite Aid with $20 and I am like a kid in a candy store.
Tonight I came home with a glade plug-in, lemonade, paper towels, q-tips, and a new In Touch magazine. I am very aware that it is not normal how excited I get when I take everything out of the bag. But then again, I never claimed to be normal.
