* Out to Lunch*

Hi, it's me... I'm off to the woods to spend the weekend horseback riding, hot tubbing and hanging in the woods out with my girls. Leave a message and I will get back to you after I return.

It's Rough Out There

Yes, we all know it's rough out there. Save more, spend less. And because of that retailers are coming up with crafty ways to get you into their stores and opening your wallets. So crafty that Olive & Bette's in NYC came up with the idea that customers could sell unwanted jewelry to a licensed gold buyer — who would weigh it, test it and issue a check on the spot. Sounds a little crazy, but who doesn't have some old jewlery (from an ex, perhaps) laying around that they would gladly ditch for a new spring top. Of course, until you find out that expensive necklace really only cost about as much as a pack of tictacs. Then you are just played a fool.

City Living - Puma Edition

(image from Fashionista)

The Volvo World Race is currently docked in Boston for three weeks. Since Puma is one of their biggest sponsors, they are constructing a pop-up mini village at each port. I would like to meet the person who thought of this and buy them an ice cream cone, because it is pretty brilliant. If you're in Boston, go and check out Puma City (just look for the giant red shipping containers that say Puma) hit up the the souvenir shop, shoe store and apparel store. Oh and when you get tired of shopping, stop at the bar and relax with a drink.

Breaking News

This came via crowls who got it via the metrocurean.

Acqua al 2, my FAVORITE restaurant in Florence is planned for Capitol Hill. Their blueberry steak is the stuff that dreams are made of. I may die. Actually, I lied. I am dying.

It is where I spent Thanksgiving of 07 and I also remember a wine-fueled dinner with NicNic and her British friend. AMAZING.

Theory of Shopping

This is the second day in a row I am wearing a skirt to work. I'm pretty sure people are wearing sunglasses not because of the sun, but to shield their eyes from the sight of my white, white legs. It's ok though, because I am really just oozing with excitement about my new shiney red viscose Theory shorts... originally almost $200 and I got them for $20. Love the shopping gods.

They look like this, sort of... ok not really. But I felt this post needed a picture.

Gotcha!

My sister and I are huge dorks in the sense that we are always trying to trick each other. We both think we are good at telling the other person little made up stories, but in truth we both totally suck at lying.

Except for today, when she got me.... sort of. She called me earlier in the week to ask me what hotel we were staying at for our cousin's wedding. It was the Hilton, but knowing how she feels about skeavy hotels, I made up a story that I found a cheaper Red Roof Inn a mile down the road and canceled our comfy two bathroom suite at the Hilton for that. I thought I was mighty clever. Then she called me back and told me that her hubby could have gotten us a free upgrade to the presidental suite at the Hilton, but he turned it down because she thought I wanted the cheaper hotel to save money. This went on for about 10 minutes with me asking questions, her making up answers. And I believed her... sort of.

She finally caved and told me the truth right before we hung up. She wins. Til next week when we are sure to play this little game again. Like I said, dorks!

(update: I just got an email from her that said "Gotcha!" We embrace our dorkiness.)

She's An Uptown Girl

I got this invitation emailed to me today. I totally want to go... mostly because there will be cocktails and good people watching. But then I read the dress code: Uptown Chic.

What is that exactly? Does DC do Uptown... do I need to take out the vintage Chanel suit and and have Jeeves the driver take me while sipping a gin martini? I'm so funny sometimes even I laugh out loud.

Did You Say Belmain

Spring has barely sprung and already this $11,410 Balmain jacket (and its knock-off) is popping more often than an Olson twin with a Starbucks.

I don't know... I'm just not that into it.

Stick Them on Your Ears

Last week I wrote something for Washingtonian.com. Some people liked it, one person didn't. See what you think!

Weekend Awaits

Last night I graped with the apes (and broke a few glasses along the way)
Tonight I will party like I am 21 (because Rexy finally is)
Tomorrow I will fill holes in my wall, eat cake with a certain Stro and search for some vintage finds in the suburbs.

And you... you are going to World Market to take advantage of their Friends & Family event and 25% off.

sunshine kisses!

(my sister and smooshface -- that little cutie is the future of fashion)

Saving on Beauty

Everytime I walk out of Sephora with $75 worth of new makeup, I always wonder if my new blush has a cheaper cousin living somewhere in the aisles of CVS. Guess what... it does.
Read this article in today's NYTimes and then thank me later.

Trading Vows

I have two dresses for two weddings in May. One is bright blue and the other is deep purple. One long and flowy, the other short and tight. One fun and loud, the other mature and sultry.
I could only find a picture of the one. I am going to wrap my waist in a satin black wrap belt.

Now. I. Am. Obsessed. With. The. Shoes.

Inspiration, N'est Pas?

those shorts are amazing. I want that fabric made into a 1920's hat, a flowy blouse and a little fitted dress.
